the staff were so cold and indifferent, it’s like I was just another number. and my laundry request turned out to be an absolute debacle, took an hour for a simple jacket pickup! honestly, I expected a free upgrade or at least a smile for what I paid. I just couldn’t bring myself to give a good review.

The location was fantastic, just a short stroll from the bustling Nishiki Market and various shrines like Yasaka Shrine. The cozy corner room I stayed in was beautifully decorated and really comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the strong water pressure in the shower—it was just what I needed after a long day of exploring. Plus, the complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby were a great way to recharge before heading out for the next adventure.

Man, the food scene nearby is a treasure! Hit up Sushi Tetsu Pontocho for some killer sushi, and don’t sleep on Pontocho Yakiniku Yaruki for top-notch grilled meats. The cozy lobby has complimentary tea and coffee all day, making it a perfect pit stop after your culinary adventures. Plus, the beautifully decorated corner room made resting up a joy.

Family getaway with a twist

this place really surprised us with beautifully presented rooms. we had huge comfy beds and even two pillows. honestly, it was a relief after days of traveling. the location was pretty cool, right by Pontocho Street but still quiet enough to relax. I loved the fantastic free tea selection, it felt like every cup was a little piece of Japan. also, the staff were super helpful, making checking in and out easy.

it wasn’t exactly budget-friendly but the experience was worth it.

the room had a massage chair after a long day which was great. the pillows were too hard for me.

aru kyoto sanjo kiyamachi do-ri offers a stylish room with a super comfy bed. the location is perfect, right near the city center and just a stroll away from the vibrant restaurants on pontocho street. the friendly staff made checking in and out a breeze. They had a fantastic bag drop service. everything felt spacious and well-designed, truly a highlight of my stay.
